For the duration of the Covid-19 crisis Tanya Callman continues to offer training course in all aspects of Education law, including admissions and exclusions and the Equality Act for schools and academies.

Training is conducted via video link and therefore remains interactive and bespoke to suit the needs of the client.

We are also offering shorter update/ troubleshooting sessions on admission appeals in light of the latest Government Covid
guidance updated 1 February 2021 and the School Admissions (England) (Coronavirus) (Appeals Arrangements) (Amendment) Regulations 2021 which came into force on 31 January 2021.  This is an opportunity to chat through any issues that may occur and how to deal with them.

This time may also be an opportunity for schools and academies to update their policies and procedures, this is something that Tanya can advise on and assist with.

For details and pricing of all training courses, update sessions and advice please contact Sally Collyer on clerk@edulaw.uk

“I thought everything about the course was excellent – introductions, content, delivery, members’ participation, 10 minute breaks. I was particularly impressed and grateful for the way you dealt with the many questions I put to you, and which you answered. Once again, many thanks. the time seemed to fly by.”

Panel member, Admissions training

“Training Independent Appeal Panel members, chairs and clerks is never easy. Using Zoom to conduct four half-day sessions of thirty people is even more difficult. But Tanya did it with impressive style and complete professionalism. She controlled proceedings effectively and ensured that everyone was involved and focussed throughout. Her knowledge and experience are comprehensive, as was the documentation. After twelve years of being an IAP member and chair, I felt this was the best training we have ever had. And she has just done the same for us on IRP (Exclusions) training.”

Panel member, Admissions and Exclusions training

“Tanya’s training was delivered with pace and humour, with clear thought to how to keep her audience engaged and involved in spite of being remote. The course was thorough and to the point with excellent handouts and additional reading to help delegates feel fully prepared to deal with all situations”

Headteacher, Exclusions training

“I have just had 4 extremely interesting and engaging online training sessions run by Tanya. My previous experience of online training has been that it is dull and it’s very tempting to turn off the video and have a nap. But in spite of the dry subject (school admissions appeals and exclusion reviews) Tanya’s training is entertaining whilst being very professional. She involves all the participants (no chance of a nap) and gives practical advice, with suitably anonymised examples from her experience. Her approach is very structured and gives a good overview of the main issues so we know where to go to look up the detail when we need to put the training into practice. Thanks so much Tanya.”

Panel member, Admissions and Exclusions training

“I cannot thank Tanya enough for the way in which the Covid19 situation was dealt with in the training and the swift move to Zoom technology on line training. The training is practical and thought provoking and the documentation provided was extensive. I would recommend this training without hesitation.”

Clerking Team Leader, Admissions and Exclusions training

“I would just like to thank you for the excellent, comprehensive training which you delivered last week on the subject of Admissions Appeals. I have been in education for just over 50 years and have been aware of the process from a teacher, headteacher perspective, but not understood the detail and complexities of the system. You explained that perfectly in terms which we could all understand, whilst keeping us involved and on our toes! I thank you for this insight and in preparing me for the actual panels themselves which I am sure I am going to relish.”

Education Consultant and retired Headteacher

“I thought the training we had from Tanya was the best ever training day I’ve been to since I started sitting on panels. She inspired confidence by her knowledge and she managed to put everything in a most understandable way. The pace was excellent. Although several of us have sat on panels for quite a long time she managed to make everything fresh and interesting and gave us new ways to look at things. In particular, I think the way she dipped in and out of official documents was very helpful. By having just one presenter for the training covering all aspects it did enable us to have a total overview of the process”

Panel Chair, Admissions training

“Tanya is a clear and professional presenter and this came across as well in the remote training, as in person. She made every effort to maintain interaction as without body language, the attention of delegates is hard to gauge. I felt there was ample opportunity to ask questions and the content encouraged us to explore a variety of potential scenarios, as well as providing relevant and timely information to support us in new arrangements alongside endorsing current statutory requirements. All in all a very good training session, expertly compiled and presented.”
